Reasons for Over-retained Milk teeth in adults
There are three main reasons for over-retained permanent teeth
- Absence of permanent tooth which was supposed to replace the milk tooth.
- Change in the eruption path of the permanent tooth. This may lead to either non-eruption of permanent tooth or eruption of permanent tooth at an abnormal position.
- Presence of some pathology eg. cyst, tumor, odontoma etc.
Seek a dental opinion if the milk teeth have stayed longer.
