Labial Frenectomy
Frenectomy is a surgical procedure of removal of labial or lingual frenum. Labial Frenum is a band-like structure that connects the upper lip with the upper jaw and lower lip with lower jaw.
Frenectomy is required when labial frenum is attached higher which may cause a few issues
- Space between upper front two teeth (midline diastema)
- Gingival recession in lower front teeth
- Limited movement of lips
- Affects chewing & speech
- Hindrance in proper brushing
Frenectomy can be done by
