Treatment options for Over-retained milk teeth in Adults
If there is an over-retained milk tooth, a few options can be considered-
- Extraction: Most of the time, the over-retained milk tooth is extracted. If possible, the permanent tooth can be brought in that space.
- No treatment: The second common option is to keep the milk tooth as long as it stays.
- Restoration: Sometimes, milk teeth can be restored to look like permanent teeth.
- Crown/ Veneer: Rarely, a crown/ veneer can be given.
The treatment depends on a number of factors like the presence or absence of permanent tooth, the condition of milk tooth eg. decay, ankylosis, remaining root etc.
